Vienna-based gamification provider billboard.games is rebranding to playvertise and expanding its platform for cross-channel gamification.

Vienna, 10 June 2026: The Vienna-based company billboard.games will now operate under the name playvertise. The rebrand had been planned for some time. In its first year alone, the scope of services expanded significantly. A trademark-related issue finally prompted the company to take the step now.
The advertising industry is fighting for a scarce resource: attention. Classic formats get skipped, swiped away, blocked. Games work differently. When people play, they choose to participate with full focus. That is exactly where playvertise comes in, connecting games and advertising into a new form of brand interaction.
From screen to experience
billboard.games was founded with a clear idea: turn screens into interactive game experiences and transform passive ad space into something people do not just see, but experience. Since then, the offering has expanded considerably. Today, the company delivers gamification across a wide range of channels, from screens and DOOH to social media and the web, through to promotions and events. The name billboard.games no longer fully reflected that scope.
The reason for the rebrand
The concrete trigger for the rebrand was a trademark question around the term "billboard". An international trademark holder saw a proximity to its brand in the word "Billboard". For billboard.games, this was the right moment to implement a step that had already been part of the long-term company and brand strategy.
What the name playvertise stands for
The new name playvertise is internationally accessible and precisely describes what the company does: play and advertise. Delivering content through play rather than simply broadcasting it. That is also the forward-looking perspective. In parallel with the new name, playvertise is expanding its platform. The goal is to provide games for a wide variety of channels, whether DOOH, social media or a company's own website, and to make the entire process as simple and cost-effective as possible.
From the start, our ambition has been to make gamification possible for everyone. We continue to pursue that vision. The name says it all: play and advertise. We want to make gamification accessible and affordable for companies of every size, from small businesses to large corporations, and not only in Austria. With the new name, we make even clearer what drives us: advertising that people do not just see, but experience through play.

For existing customers and partners, nothing changes apart from the name and domain. The team, points of contact and technology remain the same.
